Trip Overview

Chulu West peak is a splendid peak residing in the Damodar Himal Range in the pristine Manang Valley. One of the highest trekking peaks situated in the Annapurna Region, Chulu West Peak is also a challenging and demanding one. Chulu West Peak attracts intermediate and amateur climbers as it is technically straightforward but also has a sharp steep summit requiring a high level of stamina and strength to make it to the top. Although it is a 6000er and classified as a trekking peak, the altitude should never be underestimated. One must walk on rugged terrain on rocks and frozen ice with utmost caution to make it to the summit. With all aspects of a true mountain, Chulu peak is an exciting peak for all adventure lovers and mountaineers. It is a perfect choice for training if you are aiming for higher 7000ers and 8000ers.

The trekking trail to the Chulu West peak goes through the Marsyangdi valley up towards the Manang Valley leading to the peak. Most of the trekking trail goes through the Annapurna region offering jaw-dropping views of the Annapurna massif, the Himlung Himal, and the Chulu range itself. Travelers get the mesmerizing opportunity of being in the wilderness where one might encounter several endangered species like Red Pandas, Musk Deers, Himalayan Black Bears, Ghorals, vibrant birds, and many different kinds of flora and faunas. The culture and traditions of the local ethnic communities that reside in the villages that we pass during our trek are praiseworthy and admirable. The landscapes that one can observe are dramatic and surreal. The overall journey to the Chulu West Peak is a blend of adventure, learning, cultural and natural acquaintance, and a lifetime memory of joy and happiness.

Preparation for Chulu West Peak Climbing

Aiming for any high altitude peak requires physical endurance and strength. Likewise, being mentally prepared to be in the isolated region for a couple of weeks is extremely necessary for a pleasant and memorable trip.
