Out of 1310 peaks over 6000 m in Nepal, 297 peaks are opened for climbing. While peaks over 6500m require a liaison officer during the expedition, those below 6500m do not. Some of the peaks over 6000 m are relatively easy and can be attempted by any travel enthusiast with appropriate fitness and mountaineering skills while some are technical and challenging including sections of steep ice, snow, and rock climbing. Climbing 6000 m peaks is an ideal practice if you are heading for 7000m and 8000m peaks later.
